How’s your BMI?

  What’s BMI?

BMI stands for Body Mass Index. The Body Mass Index is a guide that compares how much you should weigh relative to your height.

A rating of 19 or below is underweight, 20-25 is “healthy,” 25-30 is overweight, & 30+ is obese.

To find your BMI, divide your weight in kilograms by the square of your height in meters. Did I lose you yet?

Anyway, it works like this…

If you’re 150 lbs, you multiply 150 by .45 to get kilos… so now we have 67.5 kilos.

Next, we take your height in inches… let’s say you’re 67” (5’7”) and multiply that by .0254 to get meters… so now we have 1.7 meters.

Then we multiply the meters number by itself… 1.7 x 1.7 = 2.89.

Now we can divide 67.5 kilos by 2.89 to get a BMI of 23.
